Some of you may have seen a post or two on the reader loops that I had another release coming out this year from Changeling. Family obligations, a generally hectic work schedule and a muse who did a runner have made that pretty impossible. I have all the essential plotting done and it’s meant to top out around 8k, so I could have gotten it done, I realize that. But would I be happy with the end product? I don’t think so. No, I know I wouldn’t have been – not as things stood when I made the decision to do my own runner.
Now I have to hope that CP or another publisher will want to pick it up when I do finish it (no contract was signed, and there was a surplus of stories for the series, but, still, a very shaky, flaky start on my part, I’d say).
Now you know, kind of, why I’ve been so quiet.
I’ll be spending a large part of my weekend at the Changeling Press readers loop discussing the many wonderful interracial romance stories Changeling Press has published and the genre in general. So if you like the genre and you like it spicy hot stop by for a visit – you might even win one of four gift certifcates to the changelingpress.com bookstore (USD 5 each)!
How to win and collect-
1. Winners must be registered at changelingpress.com to receive their prize (the gift certificate is made as a credit to your user account).
2. Prize coordinator will be contacted Monday 8/24 with the name of winners – I will need your changelingpress.com user name and associated email address to provide to the prize coordinator.
3. First opportunity to win is Friday night (8/21) - and is as easy as participating in the IR discussion on the readers loop by posting a message (your favorite Changeling IR book, etc.) before midnight ET. I will put all the names in a hat and draw 1 winner. I will announce the winner by noon Saturday.
4. Second and third opportunity to win will occur on Saturday 8/22 – drop by the loop to find out how. (I will post rules before midnight ET on how you can participate in Saturday’s drawings)
5. Fourth and final opportunity will occur Sunday 8/23 – again, drop by the loop for more details!
Have you been wondering why I wasn’t doing the author thing, promo-ing the Hades out of “His Black Pearl” when it released back on the 17th of July. I had plans, I swear…
And then something happened on the way to the forums…
Maybe you read about it here? I’m not at liberty to say anything more about that yet, but, “soon”
Who’s cozying up next to His Black Pearl in this week’s releases at Changeling Press? I’ll tell you!

Straight to Dawg Town.

The Firm 2: Vixen by Tuesday Morrigan

That evening at a bar downtown he spots a sultry, golden beauty at the bar and knows he has to have her. Even if she is a working girl.

I’m starting to feel all dressed up. Got my cover, my blurb, final edits done, it’s all back from the proofers. Hopefully there’s no run in my stockings! Certainly the cover’s lovely! I bought my own license for it knowing I was going to suggest it to the publisher for the cover – and they did choose it from the three choices I sent

So, about that sneak peek? Okay…let’s look in as Aaron’s started to undress Hallie…but a bit of a warning, first! This excerpt contains sexually explicit scenes and adult language that some may find offensive and that is not appropriate for a young audience.
Aaron kissed her temple. His hand trailed back down, the line of buttons quickly surrendering to him.
Just as she had.
At the fourth button, when the front of her bra was exposed, he groaned and cupped the underside of her breasts. He squeezed them once, roughly, before he hitched the skirt of her dress up to attack the next button. The top of her nylons showed and he stopped at the last button, grabbing the hem of the dress and bunching it in his fists. His lips found her throat again. A kiss followed by a light bite.
The last button flew across the room.
“Sorry, didn’t mean that.”
He sounded almost sheepish and she tried to turn in his arms but he forced her to stay facing the mirror.
“Close your eyes.” He whispered against her cheek. “I won’t last with you looking at me like that.”
Letting him slide the dress from her, Hallie obeyed. The bra was a front clasp and he unhooked it, his thumbs circling her nipples before he stripped the lace and satin from her.
Warning her not to peek, he slid the necklace over her head, one hand caressing her breast while the other positioned the pearl between her cleavage.
“I found this diving in the South Seas.” His hands were at the garter clips. The quiet snap of each clip opening punctuated his syllables. “It’s my favorite gem — a perfect symbol of creation.”
Bending, he ran his hands down her right leg, then her left, as he removed the stockings. “Round, with all the promise of a woman.”
Standing, he cupped her ass, spreading her cheeks and letting his fingertips graze her sex. A second later, the garter skirt was on the floor and he had gathered the sides of her panties in his hands. Instead of pulling them down, he lifted, letting the seam of the crotch rub hard against her clit as he spoke.
“I always think of sex and creation when I see that pearl.” His words, rough in his throat, ended with the tearing of fabric, and then her panties were gone. He moved his hands to her exposed mound. “I still have the shell it was created in…”
He held her labia apart, the tips of his middle fingers toying with the plump head of her clit. “…black lipped.”
Gently pinching the flesh with his fingers, he ran a line from the top split of her pussy to the dangling hood, trapping and tugging at it until her whole body trembled.
“Look in the mirror.”
She opened her eyes slowly, half-ashamed at her complete surrender to his touch. She saw her pussy first, swollen and glistening in its readiness. The pearl hung between her breasts, as black and round as if it were part of her own body.
Or was she an extension of the pearl, with its metal girdle and chain? She looked at the way Aaron held her, his strong arms around her, his hands holding the lips of her sex open, lust seizing her body.
“Do you see what was missing now?”
She nodded, unable to put words to what it was but knowing she could capture it with paints and canvas.
Still waiting for a posted cover, book summary and blurb, but edits are done, His Black Pearl has a book ID and coming soon page, and there are only 3 weeks until launch!
Catch me July 17th!
Trying this blurb on for size:
There are two cardinal rules to any contract. Artist Hallie Brandt just broke both of them. First, she didn’t pay attention to what she was signing. Sure, she knows she just agreed to paint a portrait of certain dimensions. But she’s too focused on the fact that, after more than a decade of paint, sweat and tears, she’s about to become a name artist. So what’s a little detail like the model’s identity really matter?
Second? She hasn’t a clue in hell who her new patron is. Yes, she’s met Aaron Ioannides and knows his reputation as a world class art collector. But just who is this man with the body of a Greek god and hands as skilled as her own?
Still letting it sink in – I have a contract! Being the superstitious sort, I’ll wait until I get my counter-signed copy back to say with whom, but…
I have a contract! And I have title approval (His Black Pearl) and I am all kinds of stoked. It is an interracial, black woman/white male paranormal erotic romance – somewhere around 16k as submitted (so there’s a hint on the off chance there’s someone (a) reading this WP yet and (b) knows who the erotic romance epublishers are that will take a 16k from a no-name like me.
No name for now…I have several more interracial stories planned: one heavy kink (HBP has some edgeplay, for sure); one near future (but with a Latina heroine); one which is a straight contemp but the publisher doesn’t allow straigt contemp, so I have to figure out how to make it fit their guidelines (thankfully I’ve an idea or two on that and it’ll likely come out near future two); and another which is suspense. All of course are erotic romances because I have to groove while I’m writing!
So, here’s me – new contract out the door, celebratory drink in hand and that blank screen once again.

Another night, heading into 10pm and I’m still working while my girls are out playing. And the little time I’m not working, I’m getting the WP, Facebook and Twitter together – after all, what good are legs like mine without the legwork?
But that’s alright. A few more weeks and I’ll be steam-rolling instead of steam-rolled, right?
Nah, I didn’t think so either, but a girl can hope.
